About Me
Before checking out my blog, you should know a little about me. My name is Craig. I was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. You can look it up on a map if you need to know where that is. I am a native speaker of English. That is the only language I am fluent in at this time.
I currently live in Surrey, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver on the west coast of Canada. I am married and have four lovely daughters and many grandchildren from different cultures.
I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts, a Certificate in ESL Linguistics, and a Certificate in Liberal Arts.
I have had many jobs, careers, and occupations in my life:
- a machine operator and forklift driver in a cardboard box factory
- a Cost Clerk, Cost Accountant, and Estimator in a folding carton factory
- a pet shop owner with tropical fish, pets, and pet supplies
- an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) in Japan for over four years
- an EFL (English as a Second Language) in Canada for many years
- a casino games dealer and a dealer supervisor
- a business owner as a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor counselling people with emotional and psychological issues
- a blogger about Canadian English and Western culture
My posts will be human interest stories, Western cultural issues, or opinion pieces. I will add humour and links to music and other cultural references where appropriate.
It is never my intention to offend anyone. However, it could happen through cultural misunderstandings. So, for that, I apologize in advance.
Languages have always been my passion, and especially English.
Welcome to my blog, That Other English.
